Active and Passive Anchors

Anchors are used to maintain the stability of slopes, concrete screens, sheet piling, etc. They can be either permanent or temporary, as is usually the case with those used in shotcrete walls for buildings, serving as bracing until the execution of the slabs. For their execution, drilling is carried out first, with the projected inclination and lengths, using suitable means depending on the drilled terrain (rotation, rotary percussion, with or without casing, etc.), then proceeding to injection with cement mixes or additives, if necessary, and finally tensioning the anchors. On certain occasions, the injection process is carried out in two stages: primary injection and secondary injection.

Anchors commonly used are usually post-tensioned steel cables or high-strength steel bars. Leveraging the elastic and resistant characteristics of steel and other materials, it is possible to carry out works in places and terrains absolutely unsuitable for them, applying correct engineering and a good anchoring project.
