Driven Piles
Driven piles are usually piles of prestressed reinforced concrete, wood or steel that are introduced into the ground by using a driving hammer (blow), vibro hammer or both methods until the necessary depth is reached. Because the soil moves laterally and vertically (compressed) where the pile is driven; and the subsoil where they are driven is not extracted, they are also frequently called displacement piles. Currently, the most common prefabricated piles driven are those made of concrete and tubular steel, but in the past, they were made of wood, as it was an economical and easily available resource.
